The slow play in poker that bites

IMG_5735.JPG

how many times do you slow play and it bites you in the ass later on? How many times do you trap and it gets sprung on you? How many times do you make big bets and the guy has like 4 outs and calls and gets there? The answers to these questions are simple. We are trying to get the most value for our hand. How can you avoid this is a better question... If you are

trapping it is good to do trust me than there are certain ways you can see the board texture change. IE if the flop comes 5 hearts 6 spades and 7 clubs and you have 8 9 off suit of course you trap let the guy bet and you don't raise just smooth call because you have the nuts. the the texture changes the turn is the king of hearts. What to do now the board has a flush draw on it, what to do? Well you don't want to bet to much to get value for your hand and on the other hand you don't want to get sucked out on the river. Here's what you do you bet big. the reason being is that if you bet a little the guy has a lot of value to call. If you raise big he has to make a decision, do i have the best hand here call ,fold, or raise all in. These things will go through the players mind you are trying to make him think. The object of you raising big is to make him make a bad decision like push all in on a draw going into the river. now lets say the player per chance has ace 8 of hearts he is going to snap call. he has open ended straight draw plush a flush draw. You take your chances and hope your hand holds up and you take a big pot. Now if he gets there and gets a flush so what he is not going to fold. Now on the other hand it the player just has ace queen of hearts you now have a big lead in the hand and if he calls he just has 5 outs or 5 hearts to catch to win. Going into the river the odds are 89% of the time you win and 11% of the time he wins. So you are way favored in the hand. Now if you don't bet big and say the player has 9 10 off suit and the river comes a 8 he hits the nut straight killing your hand. If you kept betting little the whole time the player is getting the right odds to just call say the pot is 1200 you bet 200 going into the river, the player is getting about 7 to 1 to call. for a gut shot still bad odds but its a small amount in a tournament to call to get there they will. In cash all the fish will, the tight good players will lay their hands down. Now per say you bet 700 3/4 of the pot the player has to put in 700 to win around 2400 that's 4 to 1 odds not worth the draw. The whole idea in this game it to get all the chips so betting big going in the river is the way to go. When the board texture changes make your bets accordingly. Do not let the guy go into the river cheap. Like my buddy JR says its pay per view. You have to play for the cards going into the river.

may you have big pots,
